Quote Page!

Good Evening Everybody!

Hope Thursday was a good one for you!  We had a rainy night here last night and heard about the terrible news in Granbury, Texas before bed! Our storms actually came around 3:00 a.m. as I woke by hearing the hail on the tin roof.  My immediate thought was my car, but by the time I made it out of bed the hail had stopped but HEAVY rain, thunder and lightning soon took it's place.  It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day this afternoon.

OK, Tonight I wanted to share with you all a page I did in my art journal for Inspiration Emporium.  This month's challenge is all about the quotes!   So I thought I better get started and get my projects done.

Last night, I had a blast with a fun journal page.  I opened the book to a blank page and just went for it.  Here she goes....
Quotes by Air Mail

How it was made....

I sprayed the background page with Dylusions Postbox Red (get it?) and Black Marble Ink Sprays. I then used the large Dylusions Letter Jumble stencil with Dylusions White Linen Spray Ink for a little background noise.  I then used the Black Marble Spray Ink with the Dylusions Diamond of a Border stencil for just a bit more background action.

With that done, I cut a 12 x 12 piece of Manila Cardstock in half.  I scored the bottom and top 1/2-inch in from the top piece and again on the bottom piece.  I applied Scor-Tape to the fold and adhered the bottom piece to the journal page.  Next, I found the center of the top piece and used my craft knife to form the "Envelope Flap."  I then added the Scor-Tape to the scored edge and adhered that to the top of the journal page.  Last,  I sprayed both the front and backside with Dylusions Melted Chocolate Ink Spray.  I added some of Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamps to the front in Archival Ink.

For the seal, I stamped the Tim Holtz Compass to Manila Card with Embossing ink and added Black embossing powder.  When that was done I cut the compass out and added more embossing ink and dipped it in UTEE three times to build up the layers.  I sprayed some Crinkle Ribbon with Dylusions Postbox Red, dried it and adhered that to the back of the seal.  I glued the seal to the envelope flap.

Back to the inside, I taped two strips of Tim Holtz Tissue Tape to Manila card and cut the strips out.  I used the Tiny Attacher and stapled the strips to the journal page on each end.  I also added a bit of the Dylusions Melted Chocolate Ink Sprays with my finger to age the strips a bit.

Last, I used the McGill Mini Envelope Punch (I believe this punch has been discontinued...Think about using coin envelopes or your We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board.) and punched out 8 envelopes.  I added some quotes to these and folded them and placed them on the strips with Tim Holtz Mini Paperclips.....Done!

Hope you like the page.  It was a fun addition to my journal.

Steampunk Dress Form!

Hello Everybody!

Hope your day has been awesome.  It sure has been good getting back into the routine of things!!  It seems like I haven't seen my studio in a month.  Well, almost a month.  It was so good to get in there and start creating,  It was also good to get back to my job.  I've been there collectively 6 days in the past 3 weeks! I also missed my drive to work.  Why?  With my hour commute to and from work,  I call this, "ME TIME"... It's my time to be alone and think about what my next move will be, what I want to work on, what I need to do and so on.... so today I thought of a few cool projects... some that I can't wait to start and some that I already have in the works.

Tonight, I had my usual 3 projects going on and I was happier than a pea picker in a field full of Lima Beans! LOL!  I had so much fun!  I finished a couple tonight, but will show you one tonight and the other tomorrow. This evening, I also did several short YouTube videos on the techniques I covered on Ustream last night.  So go catch them if you would like.

For now, I wanted to show you the Steampunk Dress Form...Here she is....

Here's how I made it...

I cut the bottom of the dress form from my pal, Eileen Hull's Vase 3-D from Sizzix out of chipboard.  You can find the die HERE.  I turned the vase upside down and covered it with Tim Holtz Idea-ology tissue tape.  I then punched holes in the scallops of the vase and added eyelets at every scallop.  I placed jump rings into the eyelets and added charms to each.

Next, I took a toilet paper roll and cut it in half and rounded off the top corners. I notched out the center into a "V" and then glued the center to form an upper torso.  Once again, I covered the tissue roll with tissue tape and adhered the upper torso to the vase forming a dress form.

Then my favorite part...adding the metal!  Love that part!  Chain and a locket around the waist, wings held by hinge clips, gears, and a few clock keys.  Yep!  I love that part!

Last, she...or shall I say, the dress form needed to stand on something!  GUESS WHAT...Eileen Hull's Cupcake Stand fits the bill perfectly!  You can find the cupcake stand die HERE.  I cut the base part of the die from chipboard and painted it black and glued it to the inside of the vase.

Done!  That was so much fun!  I think she came out pretty cool!  If you need a fast and easy dress form, try this out and think of the possibilities.

Hope you found some inspiration from this project!  So neat to think of things you can do besides what something is meant for.  Finding more than one use for a tool makes it a great investment.

Have an awesome day everybody!  Thanks for coming by!

Last Thoughts on The Hens' Den Event!

Good Evening Everybody!

Ahhhhhhhhh!  Have my feet up on the ottoman and sitting back with a nice cup of coffee in the Seattle Airport Hotel!  Rental car was taken back, clothes pulled out for tomorrow, bags repacked and dinner ordered!  I'm ready for Texasland, but first a few thoughts about my weekend in Washington....

Looking out from where I'm lounging at the mo...!  LOL!  View from the room tonight...Cool atrium!

First a HUGE thank you to Charlie LaBonte of The Hens' Den for inviting me to come to this beautiful, beautiful place...It seems like yesterday that I met Charlie at CHA and I'm so very grateful I did.  She is a GORGEOUS lady inside and out!  Everyone that came to class today walked away with the most amazing goodie bags she prepared!  So cool!  Thank you Charlie for your kindness!  The Hens' Den Rocks!  Please check out Charlie's awesome online store here...The Hens' Den.

I started out my day by meeting another GREAT pal...Marlea U. from Ustream chat...Thank you for taking a minute to drop by and say hi Marlea.  She had some family event today, but wanted to drop in and say hello!  So nice of her...

Jim and the infamous Lori C.  She is precious!!

Teaching!  LOL!

A Big Hello from the gang!

Finished!  Such an amazing group of women!  Thank You all!

Thank you again for joining me on this journey to Snohimish, LaConnor, Deception Pass, Marysville and Tumwater, Washington!  I had such a blast and hope that I can come back someday to this GORGEOUS part of the United States!

Thank you Charlie LaBonte for having and hosting me!  You are such a sweet friend!  You made this event so special for all of us!  Thanks also to Carol Hester and Cesar for helping today!  So kind of you both!

And last but not least, a HUGE thank you to all folks who attended class!  You guys ROCKED the project!  So cool!  Thank you for the awesome hugs!!!  You made my day!!!!

Just wanted to take a second and say a couple more things...I want to wish EVERYONE a Wonderful Mother's Day Tomorrow!  I love my Mom so much and wish I were there to give her a BIG hug tomorrow, but since I'm not...MOM, a BIG hug to you... I love you more than my hair!

Sorry, but on to a sad note for a minute....

I cannot forget to honor my beloved sister, Kathy Sue Hankins today!  It's with a very heavy heart my family sadly lost the most amazingly loving and funny woman to a totally unexpected cardiac arrest four years ago today.  Ironically, it was the day after Mother's Day. It still seems so unbelievable.  We all loved her so and didn't get a chance to say goodbye...So, point here, please, please go now and love on your family and give your mom a big hug for Mother's Day tomorrow.  You honestly don't know if it will be your last chance... My thoughts go to my sweet mom tonight.  You done good Mama!

Well, off to rest up for that flight back home in the morning!!  I finally get to see my studio for more than one night this time!  Yahoooo...  Home for awhile so lets get some crafting done!  See you Tuesday Night, for Take Out Tuesday on Ustream!

Thanks All!
